This web site was written over the weekend 19/20 February 2006.
At the same time e-mails were sent to airlines in New Zealand, British Airways and Virgin Airways asking them to spread the news about Bertie.
I sent an e-mail to my friend Steph on the Isle of Wight who sent it on to her friend Sally in New Zealand - this is Sally's reply:
I received an email telling me the sad story of Bertie Bear.
As I live in Wellington Steph asked me if I could check to see if he had been found.
I have phoned Wellington Airport and spoke to their lost property office. Unfortunately they did not have him.

I’m sorry I couldn’t give you better news.
Local (Petersfield) Newspapers have featured the search for Bertie, with both the Petersfield Post and the Petersfield Herald printing stories.
Newspapers as far as New Zealand have also helped - see the Star Times page.
The local radio station interviewed the school bursar and brodcast the interview. You can hear the interview from the Delta FM page.
